Dating from much earlier, the current chateau was built in 1830. The present Italian Palladio style is unique in this area . Located 10 km from Dieppe (with daily ferries to Newhaven) in a small village, yet secluded. Surrounded by ancient walls the property stands in 5 acres of verdant parkland - including french and english gardens, wood, lake and a vegetable garden.
Spread over 1000 m2 there are immense reception rooms with high ceilings and magnificent fireplaces, a grand salon, drawing room, dining room, library, kitchen and smaller rooms. The parquet floors are of a high standard, the remarkable mosaic parquet of the ground floor bedroom was brought here in the 19th century from a palace in Paris.
An imposing staircase leads to the second floor with 4 large bedrooms, ensuite bathrooms and dressing room, looking out over the park. Former servants quarters offer possibilities for several more bedrooms and bathrooms.
In the immense cellar is the old kitchen, wine cellar, storage space and a double garage. Central heating is provided by a wood burning or oil system.
All water for inside and outside is supplied from the well in the garden. A new roof dating from 2008 makes the chateau well insulated.
The village has a shop and a primary school. The sea and beaches are a 10 minute drive along the famous Cote d'Alabatre. Rouen 45 mins, Paris less than 2 hours.
