In an area close to the Loire, so great for tourism, this chateau is only 6km from Chatellerault with all the shops and services you need, but it is also only a short distance from the town of Ingrandes with a shop/boulanger/post office/bank/schools and doctors etc.
There is a TGV station in Chatellerault which takes you to Paris in less than 1 1/2hrs, and on the A10 it is only 300kms approx from Paris and Bordeaux. There are also airports in Tours and Poitiers both with cheap flights to the UK

This magnificent property sits quite high on the side of a hill and has uninterrupted views of the valley. As you go out of Chatellerault going north towards the city of Tours, the chateau can be seen on the left. It is reached by a long tree lined avenue, with private grounds all around. The property is partially walled. The grounds include a small field, a long flat lawn used by the current owner for football, cricket and childrens swings and trampoline, as well as a lawn and terrace in front of the house overlooking the valley. There are original caves in the hillside behind the chateau for storage of (eg) wine, and beyond that is a large wood. In front of the chateau is a gravelled driveway with ample parking space for many cars and to the side a large barn on two stories perfect for conversion into gîtes if desired.

The current owner has done a great deal of work to renovate the property, using the original design as a template, retaining the original charm, whilst adding modern bathrooms, and kitchen appliances and decorating throughout.

The chateau faces south/south-east, and so has sunshine all day, and this is accentuated by the very tall windows right along the front facade. Entering the property by the stone steps and through the wooden front door, you go into a wonderful hallway with wooden panelling, ceiling cornicing and the original mosaic tiled floor. Throughout the chateau the wooden panellling, wooden beams, corniced ceilings and original flooring have been kept original or as close to the original as possible.

To the right of the hall is a large living room with fabulous wooden parquet floors, to the back of this room is a cosy library area. Leading on from here is a games room, which houses a full size snooker table. Most of these rooms also have their original marble fireplaces. At the moment they are not in use, but could very easily be put into service again. Through a hidden door at the back of the games room is an alcove with built in cupboard currently used as a bar to store drinks for the billiard players. Then to the end is a useful garden room with oak shelving offering and a tower/hallway with a curved original wooden staircase leading upstairs. There are outside doors in the bar, the garden room and in the towers. Going back to the main entrance hall and going to the left, there is a large dining room, then through to a family sitting room or study, large wc and again curved stairs to the upstairs with a door to outside. To the back of the dining room there is a family breakfast room with built in cupboards all around and original tomette tiles. The kitchen is at the back of the house, and is fully fitted with an island preparation area. There are below units on two sides of the kitchen and shelves. The original stone sink is here along with the fabulous old range. There is a shelved pantry off the kitchen and boiler/utility room with plumbing and electrics for a washing machine and tumble dryer. Through the breakfast room is a back hall with lovely mosiac tiles on the floor, and there is the main, original wooden staircase with metal balustrade leading from here to the upstairs. There are two back doors to the property, one from the kitchen and one from this back hallway.

Up the main staircase and there is a small wooden landing, and up three steps and you are in a large bedroom with an ensuite double shower, and wc. Most of the edrooms have the original marble fireplaces and wooden floors. To the right is a very long hallway down the west wing of the house with original wooden paneling and wooden parquet floors. Off this corridor is there is a very large linen room with original storage cupboards, used to house all the chateau’s linen. Further along are two large double bedrooms both opening ensuite through hidden jib doors in the paneling to a shared shower room in between. At the end of the hall there is a doorway leading to a small balcony. Taking a left turn down a couple of wooden steps leads to another large bedroom with a large family bathroom facing, then the tower and stairs downstairs.

Back down the hallway to the main staircase and there are three wooden steps leading to the east wing of the house. Down this corridor there are two huge double bedrooms each with a balcony looking down over the valley. One has a large ensuite shower room, the other a small ensuite bathroom, both with original mosiac tiled floors. Further along this hall, there is a WC on the left, and beyond a right hand corner and there is another double bedroom with an ensuite bath room, also with original mosiac tiled floor. Down four wooden steps from here leads to the tower, with
another bedroom tucked into the curved walls. This bedroom has use of the WC in the corridor behind. The property has a fabulous 10 m x 12 m swimming pool, which you reach by going
up a set of recently refurbished historic stone stairs and turning left. The pool has an electric security cover and is heated by heat pump. The pool has stone paving all around, and lavender to the side.

Turning right at the top of the stairs brings you to a tree-lined alleyway leading to the wood at the back of the property. Looking down on the chateau from here you can see the wonderful belvedere viewing platform on the roof. This is reached by a staircase from the first floor through a large attic, and from here is a fabulous view. This area has many hot air balloonists who take passengers around the area to see the chateaux. They often pass down the valley right in front of the chateau and are a stunning sight viewed from here.

The property has a line of caves/outbuildings built into the rock at the back, and a large stone built two-storey barn at the end. The ground floor has four rooms: a large former cider press, a smaller store room, a large room used as a garage, and then a small stable room. Upstairs is one enormous open plan space. Currently empty except for the store room and garage used to store garden equipment the barn has very spacious dimensions would make lovely gîte accommodation subject to planning permission.
